Weather Phenomena or Paranormal Presence?! | Strange Evidence | Science Channel

Video
In Bardstown, Kentucky, a fire department helicopter flies over woodland and records an apocalyptic scene: an inferno raging on the surface of a fresh water lake. The flames are drawn into the lake’s center and form a spinning pillar of flame known to firefighters as a fire devil. Leaping taller than the surrounding trees, the swirling inferno moves around the lake’s surface; shrinking and then growing again like some kind of living being. Fire experts are stunned that this fire devil has seemingly formed over water: they usually erupt on dry land when hot air from a fire rises and begins spinning; creating a vortex which then sucks in more ash and flammable debris from the ground. But how is this fire devil thriving on water which ordinarily would douse the flames?
