Popcorn ceilings have been around for years as the infamous staple in old homes. They were popular between the 1930s and 1990s and were widely used in construction. However, because of potential exposure to asbestos and health risks, the material was heavily regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and eventually the materials containing asbestos were banned.
