Taxicabs are yellow because the bright color allows for greater visibility. Singapore compared accident rates between their blue taxi cabs and yellow taxicabs. Yellow cabs were 5% less likely to get rear-ended during the daytime, and 19% less likely to be rear-ended at night. If Singapore made all their cabs yellow, they’d save an estimated $1.4/year.
